Target Audience
This program is targeted to meet the educational needs of ophthalmologists.
Learning Objectives
It is important for ophthalmologists to keep current with the newest diagnostic and treatment approaches to meet the individual needs of a full range of patients for long-term effective management. This meeting provides a broad range of cutting-edge ophthalmic subjects by leading faculty.
At the conclusion of this educational activity, a participant should be able to:
- Employ information discussed in this talk in their daily practice for managing patients with cataract and high refractive errors
- Explain the importance of target IOP
- Evaluate how imagining devices are used in the management of glaucoma patients
- Describe the role of vascular endothelial growth factors in the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration
- Recognize current strategies using pharmacologic agents for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration
- Discuss the advantages of endothelial keratoplasty compared to standard full thickness transplants and how this surgery has changed the management of cataracts in patients with Fuchs' Dystrophy.
- Describe the unique options that femtosecond lasers offer in keratoplasty techniques
- Accurately diagnose the types of IOL malpositioning
- Choose and implement the appropriate option for IOL repositioning or IOL exchange
- Evaluate the appropriate options for presbyopia correction in cataract surgery
- Manage postoperative optical complaints with presbyopia IOL's
- Analyze factors that contribute to errors resulting in surgical confusions
- Recognize the complications of punctal plugs and treatment options
