Learning Objectives
It is important for ophthalmologists to keep current with the newest diagnostic and treatment approaches to meet the individual needs of a full range of patients for long-term effective management. This meeting provides a broad range of cutting-edge ophthalmic subjects by leading faculty.
At the conclusion of this educational activity, a participant should be able to:
- Recognize to place of a phakie posterior chamber IOL and its role in refractive surgery
- Identify patients at risk to develop post-cataract optic neuropathy
- Review the newest treatments options for patients with central retinal artery occlusions
- Recognize the signs of non-organic visual loss

- Identify the intricacies of domestic violence evaluation and management
- Recite measures designed to reduce the frequency and severity of claims
- Discuss the role of timing and management of vitreous loss during cataract extraction
- Identify the associated optic nerve disorders with serious retinal detachment
- Review the distinction between informed consent, formal consent, implied consent, extensions of consent and informed refusal
