CMS Extends Time to Appeal Unfavorable EHR Incentive-Program Decisions
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced this week that ophthalmologists who participated in the 2011 Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program and were ruled ineligible for a bonus now have until April 30 to appeal that decision. Physicians can learn how to file an appeal by contacting Provider Resources, Inc., at 855.796.1515 or OCSQAppeals@provider-resources.com. To qualify for the 2011 bonus, participants were required to attest to meaningful use of a qualified EHR system for 90 days. Physicians who begin participating in the 2012 EHR incentive program are eligible to receive a total incentive of $44,000 over five years. More information is on the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives' EHR Central.
