Older Patients More Satisfied with Combined LASIK, Corneal Inlay Treatment
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
This review included 277 hyperopic presbyopic patients with astigmatism, who underwent simultaneous LASIK and small-aperture corneal inlay implantation in the nondominant eye. While outcomes were comparable between groups, patients age 60 to 65 had the largest gain in UDVA and UNVA and the highest patient satisfaction, despite having the lowest reduction in dependence on reading glasses. Grouped by age – 40 to 49 years, 50 to 59 years and 60 to 65 years – all cohorts achieved a mean UDVA of 20/20. Mean UNVA was J2 with 4 lines gained among the youngest group, and J3 with 5 lines gained in the 2 older cohorts. Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, January 2015
