One-hour OCT Scan Highly Predictive of DMEK Graft Adherence at Six Months
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
This retrospective consecutive series included 142 Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgeries in which 87 patients were evaluated using AS-OCT at one hour, one week, one month, three months and six months after surgery. The one-hour scan showed the best predictive value on six-month graft adherence status. The combined information of the one-hour and one-week scans may facilitate decision making about surgical reintervention after DMEK. Although complete graft detachments are relatively rare, the authors say it can be managed with a re-DMEK or DSEK/DSAEK within the first six months after the initial DMEK. Ophthalmology, February 2013
