Reticular pseudodrusen may be a precursor to AMD

Researchers compared the genetic and environmental factors in an AMD population affected with reticular pseudodrusen (RPD) with AMD patients without RPD and normal controls. Patients with and without RPD share the same major genetic and environmental factors. The authors say their data supports the idea that RPD are precursors of AMD that occur in the same genotype and epidemiologic background. Retina, May 2013
