OCT confirms link between disc hemorrhage and glaucoma progression
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Investigators reviewed records for 44 patients with bilateral open-angle glaucoma and unilateral disc hemorrhage (DH) who were followed regularly using Stratus OCT for a mean of 3 years. Eyes in the DH group showed a more rapid and a greater signal decrease on a clock-hour basis than fellow eyes without DH, both on event and trend analysis. Also, 90 percent of progressions developed within 1 clock hour of DH on event analysis, and eyes in the DH group had a significantly higher rate of OCT signal decrease at clock hours containing DH compared with fellow eyes.
