Stakeholders continue to view data on the Open Payments program, and there has been a big push for physicians and represntatives of teaching hospitals to register for the program to continue to promote transparency and accountability within the healthcare sector.

Investigators analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to determine if periodontal disease, a common chronic infectious/inflammatory disease that peaks in prevalence in late middle age, is independently associated with AMD. After adjustment for confounding factors, the authors found that patients age 60 and younger had twice the risk of developing AMD if they had periodontal disease; however, there was no increased risk among those older than 60. Recommendation: The nominating committee chaired by Rick Bendel, MD recommends the following slate of officer and At-Large member positions for the 2015-2016 term. The membership will vote on the slate at the 2015 Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at The Breakers in Palm Beach.
