JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – (July 1, 2019) – Mayo Clinic Jacksonville cornea and cataract specialist Darby D. Miller, M.D., M.P.H., was re-elected as Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO) president during the organization’s Masters in Ophthalmology 2019 annual meeting, held June 28-30 in Hollywood, Fla.
This is Miller’s second consecutive term as the organization’s physician leader.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 25, 2017) – Zombie or devil contact lenses may elevate a Halloween costume’s fright factor, but wearing them without a prescription could result in something far more terrifying – blindness. The Florida Society of Ophthalmology joins the American Academy of Ophthalmology in urging Halloween shoppers to understand the risks of wearing over-the-counter contact lenses.

JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO), the preeminent professional association for medical and osteopathic doctors who specialize in vision care, elected Krishna Kishor, M.D. as president at its annual meeting, Masters in Ophthalmology 2017, held June 2-4 in Miami, Fla.
(Tallahassee) – The Florida Senate confirmed Gov. Rick Scott’s appointment of Dr. Gary Dolin, MD, FACS to the Florida Board of Medicine for a three-year term. Dolin is a former president and Ethics Chairman of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO).
“I’m honored and humbled by the Governor’s appointment and Senate’s confirmation,” Dolin said shortly after the Senate voted. “Similar to FSO’s mission, the Board of Medicine is here to protect the people of Florida and I’m eager to fulfilling that duty.”

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO) presented awards at their Masters in Ophthalmology 2015 annual meeting held at the Breakers in Palm Beach on June 26-28. The awards were given out at the annual business meeting.

The following individuals were elected to serve as officers of the FSO for the 2015-2016 membership year. The FSO board approved the nominations at its board meeting held in Palm Beach, FL on June 26, 2015. The FSO membership voted unanimously to approve the slate.
